Instructions for the

“260Q Mini Grad Character Bouquet”
By Cam Woody, CBA
(Adapted from an original design by Dante Longhi of Balloon Delivery in Sao Paulo, Brazil)

Labor: About 20 Minutes
Materials:
6 5" “Smile Face” Latex Balloons  (39270)
6 260Q Onyx Black Latex Balloons (43937)
2 160Q Yellow Latex Balloon (88348)
White Paper
Artificial Graduation Caps
Cool Glue or Glue Dots®
Tips:
Keep Bouquets standing up by adding a sand weight to one of the 260Q stems. Flatten a sand weight on the bottom, and tie the knot onto the end of one 260Q stem. You may need to leave an extra inch uninflated on the 260Q for additional tying room. Then, arrange the rest of the stems around the weighted one before adding the 160Q bow.
Try using different latex balloons and accessories to create 260Q
Mini Character Bouquets for any occasion. For additional Character ideas, see the Jan/Feb/Mar 2006 issue of “Balloon Images” magazine
Instructions:
1. Air inflate a 260Q, leaving 3" uninflated, and tie. To make a “shoulder,” twist a 1" bubble on the balloon’s knot end. To pinch twist the bubble, bring the knot next to the twist you just made, then loop your finger under the bubble, pinch the ends together, and twist several times in the same direction. To make an “arm,” make another twist 3" down from the pinch twist. Twist the balloon 1" from the end of the arm to make a “hand.” Then, pinch twist the hand.

2. Repeat to make another pinch twist for a second hand. Twist a 3" bubble for the other arm, then make a 1" pinch twist for the second shoulder.

3. Wrap the last pinch twist around the first pinch twist to connect the shoulders.

4. Fully air inflate a 5" balloon, and tie. Wrap the knot between the shoulders to attach the “head.”

5. Roll up a piece of white paper to make a “diploma.” Place this in between the hands.

6. Cool glue a graduation cap to the top of the “Smile Face” balloon.

7. Make five more Characters. Group the Characters together with a balloon bow. To make the bow, air inflate a 160Q about ¾ full, and tie. Make a 1" pinch twist at the knot end. Wrap the 160Q around the Characters, then make a twist where the ends of the 160Q meet, and wrap the 1" pinch twist around it. Deflate and tie off the rest of the 160Q.

8. Inflate a second 160Q of the same color about 2/3 full, and tie. Fold the balloon into a “Z” shape.

9. Twist the “Z” shape together in the center to make the bow’s loops and tails. Tie off and trim any remaining balloon.

10. Wrap the 1" pinch twist from Step 7 into the center of the loops to complete the bow.
