An innovative
voice in the ballooon and entertainment industry, Maxine Baird
has passed away.
For
over 10 years I've had the good fortune of knowing Maxine
as a friend and working with her on Diamond Jam and Balloon
Camp projects. Her positive and caring approach to this industry
and it's people has been a model to follow. Maxine was always
fighting to find ways of bringing people together and helping
out those who needed it. Her devotion to the youg people of
our industry is a legacy she leaves to all of us. Keeping
Maxine's dedication and memory alive is something we would
like to accomplish at Diamond Jam. The Maxine Baird Memorial
Scholorship (The Maxy) will be established starting with the
2009 event. We will award 5 scholorships each year to those
who Maxine would have wanted to help. 2 for those aspiring
artists from 8 to 12 years of age, 2 for those aged 13 to
18 and 1 for those over 19. It will take us some time to make
sure the details are worked out, as Maxine would want, but
I'll let you know as soon as possible what they are. Our sincere
condolances to Joe and the entire family. We will miss this
enthusiastic and caring LADY. Dave Scott
